In this high-responsibility role reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will be at the heart of our operations—driving efficiency, enhancing productivity, and ensuring our health and safety standards remain industry-leading. You will also play a vital role in building and retaining a skilled, motivated team, fostering a culture of morale, accountability, and excellence across every project.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Lead scaffolding contracts from tender award to final account.
  • Develop implementation plans, method statements, risk assessments, and timelines.
  • Allocate labour based on programme needs and budget targets.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to SHL’s quality standards.
  • Prepare and issue scaffold design briefs to third-party designers.

Client Relations

  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients.
  • Attend client meetings, site inspections, and progress reviews.
  • Build strong relationships and identify opportunities for business growth.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a safety-first culture aligned with NASC TG20 and SG4 standards.
  • Conduct site audits, toolbox talks, and inspections.
  • Collaborate with the HSE team to investigate incidents and maintain site safety.
  • Ensure compliance with scaffold designs and method statements.
  • Support mental health and wellbeing initiatives across teams.

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Monitor financial performance and control costs.
  • Prepare valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
  • Price project variations ahead of valuation dates.
  • Ensure proper documentation for additional works.
  • Assist with commercial settlements and protect SHL’s interests.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead Project Managers, supervisors, chargehands, and scaffolders.
  • Mentor and develop site leaders for effective project delivery.
  • Review wage structures and align with performance and industry benchmarks.
  • Recruit and onboard scaffolding staff as needed.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate with the Operations team to ensure certifications are current.
  • Foster open communication and psychological safety.

Resource & Logistics Management

  • Organise daily labour and logistics; maintain updated schedules.
  • Oversee material deliveries and scaffold stock across sites.
  • Coordinate closely with Yard and Procurement teams.

Reporting & Administration

  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management.
  • Track and report project KPIs.
  • Conduct quality checks on site documentation for compliance.

General Duties

  • Attend internal meetings and support business development.
  • Provide management cover during holidays and absences.
  • Take ownership of your professional development and annual objectives.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • CISRS Scaffold Supervisor Card (minimum)
  • SMSTS Certification
  • First Aid at Work
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • Advanced Scaffolder Card or CISRS Manager Card
  • Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate

Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • 5+ years in scaffolding project or contract management
  • Deep knowledge of NASC TG20, SG4 standards
  • Experience managing multiple projects in construction or industrial sectors
  • Proven financial management: valuations, variations, final accounts
  • Strong leadership of operational teams
  • Experience with scaffold design briefs
  • Track record of maintaining high health and safety standards
