Job title: Yard Operative
Reporting to: Yard Supervisor / Logistics Manager
Location: Croydon Yard

The Role – What you’ll do

This job description is intended to outline your key tasks and responsibilities. You may be required
to perform other duties as required, according to the needs of the business.

General duties / Job Specification

You’ll be loading out scaffolding materials and you will be taught safe practices of manual handling,
health and safety rules, basic scaffolding knowledge, including how to identify different types of
equipment.
You will complete several internal training activities and awareness courses at our yard based in
Croydon.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles by hand or with a forklift truck
  • Moving and storing stock
  • Sorting and picking goods correctly
  • Picking and packing orders
  • Checking for damaged or missing items
  • Keeping work areas clean and tidy

Person Specification – Who you are

  • Experience of the construction / scaffolding industry
  • Three years’ experience in a scaffold yard
  • Self-starter, able to work within a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive, friendly, and professional manner
  • Quickly builds rapport/credibility with colleagues
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Punctual, with exceptional time keeping ability and strong attendance record
  • Honest and reliable
  • Able to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail whilst undertaking duties
  • Can work safely and efficiently, following Health & Safety regulations
  • Forklift licence essential (Counterbalance, Telescopic)

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
