Commercial Manager
The Role
As our Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all commercial and contractual aspects of our scaffolding projects. You’ll work closely with directors, project managers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered profitably, on time, and in line with industry regulations. This role requires a sharp commercial mindset, excellent negotiation skills, and strong knowledge of the construction and scaffolding sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial function of the business, including tendering, contracts, and cost control.
- Lead on pricing, quotations, and bids for scaffolding projects.
- Negotiate and manage client contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and commercial requirements.
- Monitor project performance, budgets, and cash flow.
- Identify and manage risks while maximising opportunities for profit.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
- Provide regular commercial reports and forecasts to senior management.
- Support the development of company policies, processes, and long-term business strategy.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveyor, or similar role in the construction industry (scaffolding experience highly desirable).
- Strong understanding of contracts, pricing, and project finance.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in relevant software (Excel, MS Office, Smart Scaffolder etc).
- A degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field (preferred but not essential).

Estimator
The Role
As an Estimator, you’ll be responsible for preparing accurate quotations, tenders, and costings for scaffolding projects. You will work closely with clients, contractors, and both our Commercial and our Operations departments to ensure competitive and profitable pricing while maintaining high standards of compliance and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for scaffolding projects of varying size and complexity.
- Review drawings, specifications, and site information to assess requirements.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to gather essential project information.
- Submit tenders and quotations within deadlines.
- Monitor market rates and competitor activity to ensure competitive pricing.
- Assist with project handover to operations, ensuring smooth transition from tender to delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of tenders, enquiries, and outcomes.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as an Estimator in scaffolding or a related construction trade.
- Strong knowledge of scaffolding systems, materials, and industry regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Excellent numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Confident communicator with good negotiation skills.
- IT literate, with strong MS Excel skills (estimating software experience desirable).
- Experience with Smart Scaff software an advantage
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
