Unlike many horror games, which center on gore or outright violence, Backrooms explores psychological dread. The terror of being lost forever, of gradually growing mad, or of confronting something you don’t comprehend is much more terrifying than a Backrooms Game monster emerging from the darkness. It explores the fears of solitude, the unknown, and the dissolution of reality.
